What is RSI?
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is a momentum indicator scored 0–100 that measures the speed and size of recent price moves. It's commonly calculated over 14 periods.
What do overbought and oversold mean?
An RSI above 70 is typically read as overbought - the stock has risen sharply and may be due for a pause or pullback. An RSI below 30 is read as oversold - the stock has fallen sharply and may be due for a bounce.
Does overbought mean 'sell' and oversold mean 'buy'?
Not automatically. Strong trending stocks can stay overbought or oversold for extended periods. Many traders use RSI extremes alongside price action and volume rather than as a standalone signal.
